Skarlin discovered her passion for hairstyling at a young age. Growing up in the Dominican Republic, a family friend taught her how to braid hair—and she instantly fell in love with it. Even as a little girl, she realized that something as simple as doing hair could help people feel confident and uplifted.

After moving to New York City, Skarlin initially pursued a different career path. However, she always felt drawn back to the beauty industry, especially hairstyling. Trusting that instinct, she enrolled in beauty school, earned her license, and soon found her home at Art + Autonomy, where she continues to deepen her love for hair through advanced education and ongoing growth in her craft.

Skarlin specializes in working with all hair textures, with a particular passion for naturally textured and curly hair. As someone who wears her curls proudly, she deeply understands the unique needs of her clients. Her ultimate goal is to help people embrace their natural curls, leaving her chair feeling beautiful, confident, and empowered.
